A Message From the Pastor
I’m glad you’re looking at our website. I know
you’ll enjoy, even more, a visit to the church. As our church grows, it is our goal to keep a friendly welcoming atmosphere through our small groups and
just being open to new people and new ideas. If you like
biblical preaching, practical studies, mission ministries,
contemporary music and a friendly atmosphere, you’ll feel
right at home with us.
Scott Hill - Senior Pastor
Pastor Scott Hill came to Christ
through faith while ruining his life in the drug culture of the 1960’s.
God turned his life around! Scott was the Alumni Director for Columbia International University
when God called him to the area as the Youth Pastor for Tabernacle Church
of Norfolk in 1977. Later he helped start the Williamsburg Community
Chapel while earning a Masters in counseling at William and Mary. Scott
with his wife, Kit, came to pastor our church in 1996 after sixteen
years as missionaries in Spain. He says, “We want our church to be
a place of grace where we live for the eternal purposes of worshiping
God, enjoying His family, becoming like His Son, serving His people
and taking His salvation to neighbors and people all over the world."
Jon Hildebrand - Missions Pastor
Our Missions Pastor, Jon
Hildebrand, accepted Christ through Young Life in High
School. He came to the area as an engineer with the Shipyard
and for eight years he served the youth of Tabernacle Church
of Norfolk, where he was commissioned to the gospel
ministry. Jon later served as youth pastor in Texas and
North Dakota. He returned to the area to establish and
direct Leadership Adventure, a mission to support national
camping ministries in the Ukraine under the leadership of
Tabernacle Church. He oversees our missions and outreach emphasis, organizing short term mission trips, maintaining communication with the missionaries we support and encouraging our congregation to be great commission disciples.
Chris Williams - Family Life Pastor
After a long and successful career with the Navy, Chris followed the Lord's leading into ministry with our church. Chris came to Christ while at the Naval Academy and has pursued involvement with expanding God's kingdom ever since. Chris and his wife Helen are also involved in the direction of Potter's School, an on-line homeschool education ministry meeting the needs of families around the globe. Chris brings a needed gift of administration to our staff and oversees our emphasis on discipleship and edification of our church family.
Dan Hardesty - Worship Pastor
Dan has a long history with our church as it started in his parent's living room. Dan committed his life to the Lord at a young age and made a decision to be involved in ministry in his teenage years, which was the same time he picked up guitar. He directs our worship ministry leading the musicians and sound and media team and also is responsible for design and creative arts at the church. Dan has also worked in outdoor recreation and camp
ministries here in Virginia at Triple-R Ranch and abroad at Campamento
El Puente in Bolivia. |
